The theoretical framework is based on the theory of mixed electoral systems by Canadian political scientists Louis Massicotte and André Blais. The aim of author of this work is hypothetical application of this failed electoral reform to the parliamentary election in 2013, its classification according to Massicotte and Blais and last but not least, a criticism of this attempted electoral promoted particularly by Civic Democratic Party. Parliamentary election in Venezuela 2010
Jirsová, Tereza ; Němec, Jan (advisor) ; Rey, Martin (referee)
In parliamentary election in September 2010 Chavez's United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) obtained almost the same number of votes as the opposition's Coalition for Democratic Unity (MUD), however PSUV got 32 seats more than the opposition. Through this significant difference many publicists from all over the world considered MUD as a winner of the election. This bachelor thesis is analyzing the election and tries to bring the answer to two questions - what is the reason for such a big difference between obtained seats while the number of votes has been almost the same and who is the real winner of this election. Apart of this the bachelor thesis also focuses on the development of Venezuela in the last decades and on electoral systems in general.
